Brisbane Grammar School’s new STEAM precinct will help students pursue studies in futuristic agritech, science and engineering.

Rural students at Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) will be among the beneficiaries of more flexible learning spaces when the new STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) precinct opens at the school’s inner-city campus at the beginning of the 2024 academic year.
While the school’s 97 boarders, many of whom are from regional areas, are already enjoying the benefits of a recent $5 million refurbishment of the boarding house, they will also gain from the new facilities, which include flexible learning spaces that can be used for small group study or expanded for more collaborative work.
The new 6-storey building incorporates a 300-seat auditorium space for exhibiting science and the arts, as well as flexible learning spaces accommodating 30–150 students at a time, design hubs for students to work together creatively, chemistry and dissection laboratories, physical education classrooms and other adaptable classrooms. The smaller spaces are contained in suspended pods within the building’s atrium.
